Wrighton, other university leaders urge Washington to close ‘innovation deficit’

Deeply concerned about an “innovation deficit” that threatens the nation’s economic growth, Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and Timothy M. Wolfe, president of the University of Missouri System, sent a joint letter to Missouri’s congressional delegation urging their support in helping close this innovation gap.

Intellectual disability linked to nerve cells that lose their ‘antennae’

An odd feature of nerve cells may be linked to several forms of inherited intellectual disability, Azad Bonni, MD, PhD, and other School of Medicine researchers have learned. Further research eventually may help in the development of drugs to treat such disability.

WUSTL media specialist Brian Cohen loved music festivals so much that he created one here in St. Louis. LouFest features indie rock’s top acts, including Wilco and The Killers. Work, Families and Public Policy series begins Monday, Sept. 9

Faculty and graduate students from St. Louis-area universities with an interest in labor, households, health care, law and social welfare can join the series of brown-bag luncheon seminars beginning Monday, Sept. 9. All lectures take place at noon in Seigle Hall, Room 348. The first lecturer is Derek Neal, PhD, economics professor at University of Chicago.
